It's ballpoint pen actually. After I scanned it, I turned it to greyscale in photoshop and selected the greyscale channel. I switched back to the layers palette and created a new layer and filled the selection with color.
I really love your work, and this is one of my favorites-- simple but poignant, delicate but lively, and a fantastic composition.
I bookmarked your site awhile ago, as a sample of a website I'd like to emulate (for when I one day can finance a site of my own) but I've enjoyed coming back to the blog for updates, whether from Illustration Friday links or from my own curiosity.
Basically I'm saying "bravo" and "keep it up!" Have you done much professional work or are you an early-career illustrator-gal like myself?
