Lately I've been interested in the old textile mills here in New England. A fair number are being converted into office and artists' space, but some just look deserted. I can't help but wonder what they would have looked like in their heyday. I've been wondering too about the children that would have worked in these factories and have been sketching with this at the back of my mind.

There was something on TV recently about children in textile factories. They really seemed to be given the most dreary, dangerous jobs. Wonderful piece. The eyes are wonderful.
