Sparrows

Sketching Parisian waifs. And sparrows. Seems to go hand in hand.

Sewing Revolt

I just broke a zipper. A zipper on a dress that I'd been sewing for several weeks. A dress that I had already redone the zipper on several times over.

Needless to say I am off to heap vitriol on said zipper manufacturer and find solace in my aunt's homemade fudge.

And the perks of hanging laundry out to dry. Discovering quince on the ground:

The Mary Janes

I did this pseudo-poster a few weeks back (around when I did that "Sugary" Illustration Friday entry) and then promptly forgot about posting it. Better late than never.

I am still enjoying the clanking bicycle! Except I've discovered wet leaves and wide pant legs are dangerous traveling companions. Seeing that I'd like to keep my front teeth intact, exercising slightly more caution would be prudent.

And French paper has a blog showcasing works using their products. It's pretty spiffy.

Trying out layering color in photoshop over watercolors.

Pleasant Streets and Persnickety Planes

Some recent sketchbook doodling.

And snapshot taking.

Ah shucks, those Red Sox. No world series this year, but having seen them win twice in my lifetime, I can't complain. So how to make up for those guys? Baked apples and bike rides! My Dad helped me with some bike repairs tonight. My tire went flat awhile ago and I've had it tucked away for eons gathering dust. On it's maiden voyage the bicycle held up pretty well (aside from a clanking sound emanating from the chain), which is pretty good considering it's 50+ years old. Riding through crunchy leaves in the twilight is sure nice; especially when you come back inside with your face burning.

Out to Sea

It's fun to get some paint on yourself and shift away from pixels for a bit. Inspired by sea shanties, meandering seaweed, loves lost at sea and messages in bottles, that's the gist of this one. I've got a bit to do on it still, but here's the in-progress status. Avast ye. I have whales on the horizon, so grab your harpoon.

And, I hit up Goodwill tonight rummaging around for Halloween - I'm planning to break out the glue gun and sewing supplies this weekend. Of course, I'll arm myself with some candy corn and perhaps a nail-biting baseball playoff or two courtesy of the Boston Red Sox.

Where the West Wind Blows

Hip, hip, hooray for three day weekends (makes you wish there was a celebration for every old world explorer). Anywho, here's a bit of messing around layering drawings over textures in photoshop.

Now off for some apple cider...

Out on the Town

You know what's worth every penny as far as I'm concerned?

Tickets to see Andrew Bird play. Oh my goshness that fellow can put on a show. If you're ever within earshot, run, don't walk. The performance was a stupendously delightful.

Illustration Friday - Sugary

This week's topic made me think bubble gum pop. And dentists. Pen drawing, digital color.

Illustration Friday - Packed

I've missed the past few, so here's a shot at this week's Illustration Friday. It's a collage I had from awhile ago with some photoshop tweaking added.
