I don't have air conditioning, so it's been an exercise in grin n' bear it this week with triple digit temperatures. There's something about this weather though that takes me back to being a kid and making millions of glasses of powdered lemonade and hiding outside with a book.
Speaking of which, I'm trying to remember one story that revolved around British school children being shipped out of London at the start of World War II. The plot revolved around a girl from a well-to-do family swapping places with another girl, so as to avoid being sent to Canada. Instead the main character gets sent to a farm in rural England and there were bits about hard boiled eggs and fighter planes and all sorts of other good stuff, but Google is failing me now, so anyone else remember? It might have come out sometime in the late '80's, early '90's if memory serves me right?
