Au Revoir Deux Mille Dix

2010, you weren't a half bad year. Actually, any year where you're breathing and moving and living is pretty nice. Things are what you make of them, right?

But now, I'm looking forward to 2011. I've got some new projects to unveil, ideas that are percolating and I'm ready to (literally) get back to the drawing table. I'm also giving myself a challenge this year: document twenty eleven in comic form, A Thousand Cups of Coffee.

I'd been itching to do a 365 day challenge, but common sense prevailed. Something weekly, now that, I can get behind. I'm looking forward to tackling something outside of my artistic comfort zone and I think that'll be a good creative shot in the arm. An earlier incarnation of this blog was actually a bit more along those lines, chronicling day to day adventures in illustrated form. I ran into a few pages archived recently and it got me thinking. Anyhow, that's the plan.

And hoping you all had swell holidays. Mine sure was! The only drawback was procuring the flu, so I think I'll be ringing in the New Year with Nyquil and Rod Serling.

Happy New Year!

Take Joy

Here's to peace and joy in overabundance for you and yours. Me, I'm off to spend time with family, eat an inordinate amount of sugar and watch George Bailey tell it like it is.

See you in 2011!

Pft!

Cranky girls in chartreuse berets? That's what you draw after being at the mechanic for two and a half hours due to brake ($!) issues.

But, I had a gingerbread man cookie today. For breakfast. And if that doesn't put you in a seasonal frame of mind, I don't know what would.

I highly recommend it.

Suburban Adventures

A warm-up sketch from this morning. Pencil, watercolor and photoshop.

Also, how awesome are these tiny houses, especially since they are mobile? I think me and my pencils would be very happy tooling about the U.S. of A with one of these in tow.

Robot Holiday

As a "thank you" for reading my ramblings over the course of the past year, here's a present: robot gift tags.

The link below will take you to a high-resolution pdf file which you're welcome to print as often as you like (for personal use only). Enjoy!

Past Participle

I want to take a vacation to the mid-20th century.

Who's with me?

"Talk to any cow creamers lately?"

Some "Wonderfalls" inspired sketching. How can you not love a brother and sister team who ruminate about chupacabra and the meaning of life?

An Alien Concept

In light of NASA's recent announcement, I couldn't resist drawing an interplanetary adventurer this morning.

And I finished NaNoWriMo Tuesday night, 50,000 words chronicling the alien invasion of a small New England village. Ooh, synchronicity!

Happy Weekends, Earthlings.
