Drum Roll...

So I took the comments, tallied the tweets, ran it through the random number thingamajig and the giveaway winner is: Brooke! Tangentially, if you aren't familiar with her illustration work, go take a gander because it's absolutely lovely.

Alrighty, then. Just a heads up I'm in mole mode for the next few weeks while I finish up some projects, but will back to posting with slightly more regularity here come summer (same for this as well).

Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

A little painting I did this week when I needed a break from looking at pixels. I'm hoping to have a few of these done for an local event next month (fingers crossed/knock on wood).

Happy Three Day Weekend!

"The Year of the Book"

Today's release day for The Year of the Book. Written by Andrea Cheng, The Year of the Book is full of the magic of reading, the value of friendship and the importance of family, as narrated by the delightfully bookish Anna Wang. It's a lovely story and was a joy to illustrate. So to celebrate, let's do a giveaway!

Here's the rules:

*To enter, leave a comment with the name of your favorite childhood book. You know, the one you read so many times it fell apart and had to be held together with packing tape and/or that you can quote verbatim still to this day.

*You have a week to enter (until 11:59 PM EST, Tuesday May 29, to be ultra-precise). The winning entry will be chosen randomly using this ever-handy site and announced here, Wednesday May 30.

*And if you tweet and/or blog about the giveaway, I'll enter your name a second time into the running (just give me a heads up in your comment that you did so). Neat, huh?

Ready then? 1, 2, 3, go!

Shades, Hues and Other News

I'm busy with deadlines at the moment, but just wanted to stick my head in and say howdy. Here's a few pictures of my new work space. I told someone once I've never met a color I didn't like and I think these photos pretty much prove that.

And for the rug, I used this tutorial as a jumping off point. Basically I wanted something ridiculously saturated and vaguely mid-Century. Randomly, it reminds me of a set of building blocks I had as a child, so it's funny the things that lodge in your subconscious and come tumbling out years later.

Two things before I forget:

*My friend Erik Evensen's new graphic novel, The Beast of Wolfe's Bay is up over on Kickstarter. Reading through the sample pages is killing me because I want to read the full story right this very minute. Yup, it's that good. So get a move on over there, post haste.

*I'm planning a giveaway for next week, huzzah! Be sure to check back here next Tuesday.

Happy (nearly there) weekends!

Things to Remember

I drew this months ago, slipped it into a stack of papers, forgot about it, then unearthed it while unpacking from a move last week. I also found a forgotten can of tomato soup, but that's slightly less exciting.

And other assorted interestingness: Saturday's Super Moon, new "Sherlock" episodes and Tiny House Swoon.
